COVER PICTURE: In contrast to controls (top left and bottom left panels), cells treated with lysosomotropic drugs (top right and bottom right panels) manifest multiple autophagic vacuoles (colored in pink) in the cytoplasm, before undergoing apoptosis. The bottom microphotographs have been obtained by electron microscopy, while the top ones result from conventional light microscopy, after Giemsa staining. Nuclei are colored in blue.
