THE OCCURRENCE OF STIGMATA OF CONGENITAL SYPHILIS IN RABBITS WITH ESPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE FACTOR OF INHERITANCE

The report is concerned with the occurrence of stigmata of syphilis in the progeny of syphilitic rabbits and the probable cause for such conditions in cases where no infection can be demonstrated.

The history of a group of animals presenting these conditions is given and possible causes are discussed in the light of evidence derived from a study of these animals.

In this instance, it appeared that the lesions suggesting syphilis were of functional rather than of infectious origin and that heredity was an important factor in determining their occurrence.
